I left the city behind and headed for the beautiful island of Waiheke. Thus bus driver informed us that at one time plots of land cost only $20 and the island remained remote and largely uninhabited. Fast forward to today and plots of land could cost you millions. The island is very upmarket, naturally beautiful and covered in vineyards, art galleries and wineries.
I took in the views whilst ziplining in the morning and hiking up through the forest. It was enjoyable to whizz over the trees and take in the views from high in the air. It wasn’t quite the adrenaline thrill I had been hoping for…but then I guess that is what bungee jumping and sky diving is for!
Whilst ziplining through the tress I met a lovely Welsh couple, Carly and Dan. We tried out some ciders and wines at Wild on Waiheke, Stony Ridge and Te Motu. It was the perfect afternoon tasting different things and enjoying the sunshine and island views.
