I felt inspired this morning to wake up before the rest of the world. I set my alarm in time to throw on my lycra, drink a coffee and watch the sunrise before I went out on my bike. It was so incredible to feel like I was up and active whilst the rest of Noosa seemed to be snoring this Bank Holiday Monday. Instead of being hungover or having a lazy lie in, I had already cycled 50 km before 9am. I haven’t yet found a rush that compares to the wind on your face as you zoom down a hill on your bike (except perhaps the wind on your face as you zoom down a hill on skiis….you get the idea!) It was just magical being able to do this on mostly empty roads! First thing in the morning the sun shone incredibly brightly and created long shadows everywhere. The grass glistened with dew and the birds and butterflies were flying all around. There was a sea mist hanging over the ocean and it felt like my secret little Eden. I had forgotten how wonderful it is to set your alarm early and get your exercise done before the day has even properly begun. I know that sometimes the alarm goes off and all you want to do it hit snooze…however the memory of today’s magical morning I hope will be enough to inspire me into much more alarm-setting, sunrise watching, early bird cycling!
